Categories: ,

This is what you’ll learn in this course

The objective of this workshop is to teach you how to make large pieces, made up of several parts.

To follow this course, you need to know how to center at least 1kg of clay.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We start with a demonstration of the techniques you will learn:

  • Combined piece 1: both parts in plastic/wet state
  • Combined piece 2: bottom part slightly dry
  • Combined piece 3: both parts in leather hard state

And then it’s your turn to practice.

  • First, you will learn front kneading and spiral kneading for large batches.
  • You will start throwing a 1kg cylinder and you will do several repetitions.
  • We’ll increase the amount of clay and practice throwing different shapes
  • Another technique: hollowing out a block of clay

You will leave all the necessary thrown parts ready to build the final piece on Sunday.

Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Review of the techniques of the previous day and demonstration.
  • Increasing kg
  • you will throw the missing parts to the pieces from the day before and join them.

The remaining time you will experiment with combined shapes. For example, joining a cylinder and a cone.

We’ll bisque fire your preferred piece and let you know when to pick it up. If you’d like us to glaze it, we’ll do it with love and calculate the cost for you. You can take with you the other pieces you have thrown in greenware.

Price: 195€ (includes stoneware; bisque fire of 1 piece)
