Let’s move from functional ware to sculpture. Without fear; without experience 🙂
This is module I of sculpture, guided by ceramist Esperanza Grez (the hands behind @artegrez’s sculptures). Esperanza will accompany you in your first personal project for the creation of an abstract sculpture, with hand building and sculpture techniques.
This workshop is designed for beginners in the world of sculpture. The objective is to experiment with the material and, based on exercises, develop a creative project.
Working from a solid stoneware block, we’ll teach you the basic concepts of sculpting: full/empty, addition/subtraction, proportions.
The idea:
We’ll work with sketches, to accelerate the creative process, using intuition and synthesizing ideas. Together we’ll analyze the sketches and rescue the most interesting elements. We’ll select 1 model per student, from all the ideas, to make 1 sculpture during the course.
The shape:
your first interaction with the piece. We’ll bild a piece of approximately 20cm x 20cm x 20cm. Working from a stoneware block, learning the concepts of addition and subtraction, shaping by carving, joining and modeling.
- Tuesdays and Thurdays from 10.30am to 1pm. January 21,23, 28 30, or
- Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 9pm. February 17, 19, 24, 26
No previous experience needed!
The student shall bring:
- Notebook for sketches, pencil and eraser.

Your pieces will be fired and in 1 month after the course they’ll be ready to be picked up. If you don’t live in Barcelona, shipping can be arranged (shipping costs apply).
For better attention and quality of classes, we work with groups of a maximum of 6 students. Course will be confirmed from 4 registered students. If you have registered and paid and the course is not held, we will refund 100% of the amount paid.
